This weeks readings were interesting. I have never felt very creative in the way of arts but I hadn't given much thought to creativity being held in other forms as well. My creativity is at its highest under pressure or even doubt. I'm not sure why the doubt aspect is true but the pressure aspect is interesting. I'm not one to procrastinate so I'm not talking about the pressures of losing time. I do well when I have a lot going on and I feel the pressure of it. For example, I take double the classes to finish my degree early, I am raising 4 kids, I tend to keep even my free time busy organizing events such as neighborhood Easter egg hunts and haunted houses. I also have a strict work-out routine on top of everything else. I don't mean this to be braggy I simply cant slow down. When I have a full plate I can creatively solve problems like its nothing. Ideas on how to fix issues with all these things pop into my head in an instant. I also never do well with others doubt. My mom used to say to me a lot that I couldn't do something and I'm not sure why but it drove me to make sure I could and not only that but I mastered it. I remember once she told me I couldn't lose the weight because she couldn't ever lose weight. It was on my birthday when I was signing up for a gym membership. By the following birthday I was hundred pounds lighter, and I could not only meet the requirements for the army PT test but I matched my infantry husbands ruck time with a 60-pound ruck. I excel under pressure and doubt. If I was asked to give a definition of creativity, I would define it under problem solving skills and I would measure how well someone could solve problems. I would do this by presenting problems and observing how they get solved if at all. For example, a construction issue with a haunted house an hour before it opens. I might also observe how one overcomes negativity. I admit though that this seems hard to measure but if I'm honest I feel current creativity measurements are also hard to measure.
