In this particular situation, I would choose the Roth 401 (k). The first reason why I would prefer this plan is that supposing I am a twenty-five-year-old earning eighty thousand dollars yearly, I expect my salary to increase over time, and these salary increments would place me in other tax brackets where I would be charged more if I choose a traditional 401(k) when I retire. Paying taxes now could save me thousands, if not tens of thousands, in net taxes by 2050, as taxes are predicted to rise to more than two thousand dollars annually for middle-class families (Chen, Church, & Heil, 2020, p. 1). The extra cash will be useful in retirement. Additionally, this plan would enable me to pay less for my Medicare B premiums after retirement. Since these funds are only available after retirement, deferring to pay taxes to redirect the funds to an investment may not suffice (Locke, 2021).
