Following trends and staying within the mainstream provides security and a greater chance for major success than going with alternative music. An extreme example of this is the K-pop industry. Korean idols are people who are chosen for being attractive or talented and then trained in singing, dancing, and acting. The labels that sign them have strict control over what they wear, how they act, and the music they write. As strict as the idol industry can be, you can't deny the results. Idols and groups are adored by large fanbases and some, such as BTS, even reach international fame
