Respond to the following students:
Student 1: Hey everyone! For my experience hours I've been collecting them through my job as an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician). I use Ripely's (free) online tracker to keep track of my hours and it keeps it super organized and it's a really beneficial website. My job requires 10% supervision monthly so I'm trying to get 1500 concentrated field hours, opposed to 2000 hours. Although I am far away on the tracker it's motivating to see my percentage go up every week :)
Student 2: I work as an RBT in a clinical setting. My primary supervising BCBA created a spreadsheet where we can track hours to ensure I hit the 5% requirement each month. When I look at it by each month, there's about a 50% split between hours that would count as restricted and those that would count as unrestricted. As official supervision begins in the near future for me, I'll look to strike a 40/60 split between unrestricted and restricted activities.
Student 3: Looking over the BACB fieldwork requirements, I understand what is needed, but unsure how to execute those requirments with my personal situation. It is hard working full-time and trying to gain supervision hours. I was working as a behavior Interventionist working on gaining my hours for RBT certificate, but the job doesnt pay well, so the hours were difficult for me to aquire. I got about 400 hours when I need 1200. I had to quit as I had to go back to my prior job that paid more, I have a family to support. So again I am not sure if, when, or how, I am going to get supervision hours. The timeframe allotted by the BACB is 5 continous years, so 2,000 hours should be doable in that time.
Student 4: Reviewing the BACB fieldwork experience requirements, I plan to get my field work experience hours at my clinic that I currently work as an RBT. When accruing fieldwork experience hours the difference between unrestricted and restricted hours is that unrestricted are duties, observations or tasks and unrestricted hours are activities that require a higher level of expertise. I have a plan set on how I will accumulate each type by doing observations, trainings, and actual hands on hand experience. Reviewing the BACB fieldwork tracker requirements, what I would include in a spreadsheet to keep track of my hours would be the amount of hours, date, supervisor, and a description of what I did. I have a plan to accumulate my hours and reach my goal per month. Something that stood out to me that was extremely interesting was that there was a plan set up to guide me in accumulating my hours which is extremely helpful. This will help me in my future since I must gather both unrestricted and restricted hours to become a BCBA.
