Respond to the situation using an approach that Barbara Colorsos: Inner Discipline would recommend and follow for the following scenario: Susan is a junior in high school and is convinced she already knows more than anyone else in the school, including most of the teachers. She quickly blurts out random answers or comments to any and every question being asked. Seemingly every class and lesson are frequently disrupted by Susan wanting to debate something with the teacher, taking valuable instructional time and allowing the class to lose focus and/or get off task. Parents have been contacted but have decided Susan is old enough to "sink or swim'' on her own and aren't providing any additional support at home. Susan's teachers have shared that other students are becoming more and more annoyed by the constant interruptions, and at this point, her teachers have lost their patience as well.
