In order to create a more customized treatment plan, track the client's development over time, and get a deeper understanding of the presenting problem, counselors might benefit from testing. Counselors can utilize testing to meaningfully assist their clients if they have the appropriate training and supervision.

2. I would say that it is important for counselor training to include administration and interpretation of tests that are usually considered "psychological". At the same time, I do not know if it would really matter. I believe that if a counselor would like to include tests then it is up to them. The only part where one would need to be trained, and why I say it is important, is when it comes to reading and fully understanding the results of a test, so the interpretation of the tests. I think that these kinds of tests are useful when it comes to understanding a client and their problems. I also think that these tests help the counselor see the progress a client is making. A test could give one result the first time, but then a different one when it is taken again.
