When we a group of new members I think it is important to bring them together as a group of new members during new employee orientation. This way they have a bond that they share and can rely on each other as they progress through the organization. I work on Marine Base and during new employee there were about 30 of us and we have run into each other throughout the last few years, and it is an instant icebreaker to recognize each other. If we had a group session that involved some sort of team building the bond would be even stronger. I also believe it is very important to have new employees mesh in with the senior employees within an office or group. We usually have a lunch cookout when a new employee joins us. This lowers the stress level, and everyone can mingle. At the beginning the supervisor introduces the employee formally giving a brief rundown of their history, this is used a topic for others to bring up in conversation.
