Respond to this post: As someone interested in pursuing a career in animation I finally started looking around at the copyright laws that surround and protect animation. There have been many cases of copyright infringement, most of which do stem from or target animation giants such as Disney/Pixar or Dreamworks. Sometimes, especially when you're just a student, you don't always think about taking steps to protect your copyright, I certainly didn't when I was a young art student several years ago. So when Inside Out came out in 2015 a Canadian filmmaker filed a lawsuit against Disney/Pixar saying that they infringed on his copyright from his short film he had made 20 years earlier which featured essentially the same premise and same movie title. There have been multiple instances of these, especially regarding the animation giants, where artists should be more proactive in protecting their ideas and works by registering for copyright. That way when their copyright is infringed upon they can seek proper reparations for the violation, otherwise it is a long and hard battle to earn proper credit. But there is a lot of different things that goes into creating these works which can create a lot of grey areas regarding Intellectual Property, what do
