I found it admirable that Quentin's family was supportive through his delusions. It could not have been easy to see your 16/17 year old transform like that. It must have been scary to see the dissociation, fear, and paranoia that Quentin was experiencing. I think they are incredibly lucky to have found out how to control it, and then manage it. When he relapsed, I was worried for how his family would support him, and how Quentin would come out of it.
I was confused, intrigued, and excited all at once. I was confused because 16/17 seems so young to develop symptoms, especially if a parent doesn't have it. I didn't realize that you might get it overtime, or genetically. I was also confused with the terminology. I wouldn't have thought that having another episode would be considered relapsing. I was intrigued by how well Quentin was doing. He was suffering from a very serious mental illness, but was able to do so well in school. He maintained his life, both academically and socially. That isn't an easy feat, and I couldn't image doing it while actively having delusions. I was excited as Quentin's story progressed, and they talked about his recovery. I really like knowing that someone can live life "normally", and go on. He was able to keep being active, and still had a good group of friends. I was excited his friends were supportive, as there is a very serious stigma surrounding "schizophrenia".
One thing I learned was there is an injectable medication for schizophrenia. It never had occurred to me that there might be, I just always assumed there was just pills. I didn't know there was an institute that focused directly on those with early psychosis, but I'm glad there is. Although many people might not realize that they are in psychosis, having the resources available is so important.
