Mary post 1:
1. Should employees with strong religious beliefs be allowed off on all of their religious holidays? If not, who should decide which ones?
Yes, employees should be allowed to take time off work on specific religious holidays they request, because they are protected under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that prohibits employment discrimination based on religion.
2. Is it appropriate for managers to seek to schedule married employees to be off on the same days the employees working spouses are scheduled to be off?
Absolutely, I definitely believe in marriage, and one of the basic and important aspects of a strong marriage is to be able to spend time together. They would be happier and more productive at work.
3. Is it appropriate for managers to schedule single parents and other workers with childcare or elderly care responsibilities differently than those without such responsibilities?
I believe that as managers we should consider and support our subordinates in the best possible way, accommodating their schedule according to their needs and responsibilities of their young children, or elderly parents.
We all have a life, and our priorities. Our family is the most important, and the responsibility of our dependents must be always on top of the list, so we need to consider the employees' needs as well when doing the schedule.
4. In what circumstances, if any, is it appropriate to consider non-work factors in the scheduling of an operations employees?
It is appropriate to consider non-work factors in the scheduling process when employees request the time off in advance and when non affecting the operations of the facility.

Should employees with strong religious beliefs be allowed off on all of their religious holidays? If not, who should decide which ones? Yes, as long as the employees have reasonable accommodations for any kind of religious beliefs that the employee has.
Is it appropriate for managers to seek to schedule married employees to be off on the same days the employees working spouses are scheduled to be off? It depends on the kind of situation that is happening and if there are not too many of the staff taking the day off then yes both couples can take the day off but if someone already has that day off then they cant take that day off.
Is it appropriate for managers to schedule single parents and other workers with childcare or elderly care responsibilities differently than those without such responsibilities? For some parents having to work and taking care of personal things in their lifes is very hard to do at the same time. I think what the manager should do is try to work out a good working schedule that is easier for the employees to follow without stressing over what they should do next.
In what circumstances, if any, is it appropriate to consider non-work factors in the scheduling of an operations employees? Yes, Its important to keep in mind of certain non-work factors for when having to schedule each employee. One being to ensure proper balance in staffing, provide enough time off between shifts, post schedules in advance, and keeping track of each employees vacation, sick, and other paid time off.
