1) After reading the article "5 Tips for Hiring - and Retaining - Top Talent" I think that the two most important ways to improve an organization culture are: put them at work and are they a culture fit. When I worked for a company a few years back, I had applied for another position within the company along with a couple of others. As part of the interview process we were each given an excel spreadsheet and asked to add in formulas to solve the missing fields and given by the end of the next business day to turn it in. This is how they concluded who would be best fit for the position. To me this is a great way to have one show their skills as well as ensure that they one can meet a deadline and work well under pressure. Ensuring that a new hire understand the culture of the organization and that they will fit in well with it is crucial as this can increase the company's morale and productivity as well as employee satisfaction. When one doesn't fit in culturally, it can be very difficult to have teamwork as they may be hesitant to work with others or open up to others about ideas or certain issue that may arise. As mentioned above, I did have organizational performance in mind when making my selections. Being able to show that one can work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner is very important for productivity as well as problem solving. Having a great cultural organization will increase productivity and help improve retention rates. When there is a good culture at work and everyone works together as a team, one is more apt to stay with the company rather than look for something else,

2) After reading the "5 Tips for Hiring and Retaining Top Talent" article the two ways that I deem most important in the attempt to improve organizational culture first is Offering Competitive Wages and Benefits and the second is "Put Them to Work". By offering competitive compensation and benefits this will and could improve an organizations culture in multiple ways. Offering competitive wages helps motivate employees to recruit other people to work for our organization and it also helps with our employee retention. Offering an hourly or yearly wage that is too good to pass up gives you a great lead when attracting and retaining talent. By using the "put them to work" method this gives the employee a sense of accountability, trust, and worthiness. Seeing an individual perform on the front lines of a job is the make or break of the entire hiring process. When an employee is given a small task to complete without help this is showing the employee that this employer trusts their employees and empowers them to do the job with quality.

Yes, organizational performance was taken into consideration when I was making my selections. Both of my strategies discussed in the above paragraph, offering competitive wages and the "put them to work" concept have the potential to improve organizational performance, attract and retain talent for the organization. This will lead to improved performance, quality, and care. Additionally, using the "put them to work" method can result in a positive workplace environment, trust, respect, and open communication between the employees and managers.

My selections will affect employee retention by providing competitive wages and benefits which show employees that they are valued and appreciated for their efforts on the job. This will lead to employee loyalty and and commitment. In conclusion my other selection the "put them to work" method shows employees that they are trusted and respected and gives them a chance to progress within the company quickly and allows them to be more open minded about their future in our organization.
