Respond to two of your peers on their selections. Did their choices influence your opinion? Why or why not?
1) After reading the article "The #1 Workplace Culture Challenge" the two items that I identify as the most valuable in convincing leadership to include culture as part of any change strategy are;
1a.Improving customer experience or recovering from a customer experience crisis.
Companies that have amazing customer services are companies that have excellent organization culture (The #1 workplace culture challenge 2016). Employees supply excellent customer service when they are knowledgeable and understand a company's beliefs, values and attitudes. Understanding and being educated about an organizational culture are what influences the behavior of an organization and its employees. Therefore, if leadership ensures that the organizational culture is reinforced in the workplace, employees will have a clear understanding of what the organization stands for and what services they are expected to provide to customers.
1b. Reacting to negative employee feedback.
Getting negative feedback from employees either through culture surveys, formal engagement, climate, satisfaction, and other feedback will help CEOs to make the decision to reinforce organizational culture (The #1 workplace culture challenge 2016). This will help them understand where they are slacking and help to convince them to include culture as part of any change strategy. Getting honest opinions from your employees helps leadership make important decisions about implementing strategies to aid in organizational culture. When an organization is lacking values employees will be the first to name this and let it be known so that changes can be made.
2) Culture in the workplace attracts and retains employees and can have a positive impact on their productivity and efficiency. And after reading the article, I can conclude that the two items I consider most valuable are "Improving how talent is attracted, hired, and retained" and "Directly addressing the subject of culture and the need to evolve, shape, or change some aspect of culture.". According to CNBC, approximately 33% of American employees have considered quitting their jobs due to "toxic company culture." Employees will be unable to exceed their capacity at the organization if the work culture is considered toxic. This is why it is important to understand how to attract talent that will fit and better the existing work culture. As well as directly localizing the type of culture the organization is thriving for.
