respond too As a leader, I am currently navigating a challenging situation with my current team colleague. Her personal situation has drastically impacted her performance as well as the team. This has led to frustration, missed deadlines, and poor-quality deliverables. The most challenging part of this situation is that the colleague is unaware of her impact and the consequences of her behavior. Last year was diagnosed with breast cancer requiring multiple surgeries and treatments. Health-wise, she is doing wonderful now, but due that health issue, expectations of her work, behavior, and accountability in the upper level of management were relaxed. I fully understand and support that, however, once she got back on her feet and now we are more than a year out of her leave, she has exploited the empathy shown by the team during her personal issue, allowing her work to quality to lapse with few upper level managers noticing. However, we are in the middle of a reorganization and alignment of task, and this exercise has shed a lot of light on her performance issues
