!) My name is Anita Chhetri; originally from Nepal, but I have been in the United States for over 14 years. Currently, I live in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I am a wife and a mom of two. I also work part-time in a retail store. I chose to enroll in three courses this term as well. This is my final term to hold a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration with a concentration in organizational leadership. I hope this course will provide valuable insights for my future professional life. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching movies, cooking, socializing, and traveling in my spare time.
According to this week's reading, "Organizational culture may be described as the shared values and assumptions that guide behavior in an organization" (Cakar & Erturk, 2010). Every organization has a unique way of working that often affects its culture. An organization's culture comprises its beliefs, philosophies, principles, and values. Workplace culture dictates how employees interact inside and outside of the company. A positive work environment fosters employee motivation and management loyalty. An organization's culture composes a set of predetermined rules that serve as a roadmap for workers and provide them with direction at work. The workplace culture gives the company its identity. In other words, an organization's culture defines it. Workplace culture brings employees who would otherwise not come from the same background and family or share the same attitude and mindset. The culture fosters community among the staff members (Juneja, 2015).
A company's location should impact its culture rather than define it. Company culture must be adapted to meet the business's and its employees' demands, which is related to the location of the business. Depending on the organization, the location may be a significant aspect of its culture. For instance, a business with its headquarters in one location could have a culture strongly impacted by that neighborhood's traditions and principles. Furthermore, a company's location may impact its capacity to hire and retain employees and its access to resources and consumers. In contrast to those that emphasize the development of a unique culture based on their beliefs and goals, other businesses may have a culture largely independent of location.

2) My name is Justin, and I'm from Toledo, Ohio. I live here with my wife of eight years and our three children (ages 4,3 and 1), whom I affectionately refer to as the Garbage Goblins. If you have children, you can connect the dots on why! Professionally I am a Director of Sales for a 3PL company running sales programs in large big box retailers.
Summarizing what goes into an organization's workplace with this excerpt: "Company culture is how you do what you do in the workplace. It's the sum of your formal and informal systems and behaviors and values, all of which create experience for your employees and customers" (GreatPlacetoWork, 2021)
Given my professional experience, this is a subject I've seen a variety of differences with the companies I've been a part of. One of the best companies I've worked for made it their mission to adhere to their core values. The company was committed to its values, not just a list of things that sound good and need to be followed. The company believes the world we want tomorrow begins with how they do business today. Reading chapter one of the assignment today, I couldn't stop thinking back to my time with that organization and how they seem to embrace Theory O described in chapter one. On the flip side, I've also been part of companies that 100% only subscribe to Theory E and are exclusive of "what have you done for me lately" with high-performance expectations and quick, knee-jerk reactions on personnel.
The question of whether or not the location is critical, this one is dependent on the type of business. Today's world is different from the past. Technology has connected humans in ways never thought possible, but there are still cultural differences among geographies here in the United States. Cultural norms and values are typically different to a rural farmer from Nebraska as they are to a young urban professional in downtown Los Angeles. For some organizations, this matters, and for others, it may not. Your mileage may vary on how critical the location is from my perspective.
