Restaurant entrepreneurs have a lot to decide about their restaurant, such as the menu, size, ambiance, theme, prices, and much more. One factor that is often overlooked is the amount of time they want customers to spend in the restaurant. Depending on their business model, different restaurants hope for different lengths of stay from their customers. For many restaurants, the amount of time customers linger over coffee and dessert negatively affects profits. To learn more about this variable, a sample of 199 guest-groups (one group per table) was observed from two restaurants, and the amount of time customers spent in the restaurants were recorded.

a) Calculate the quartiles (first, second, and third) of these data for each restaurant (manual approach and formula).

b) Compute the interquartile range for each restaurant.

c) Use a computational platform (e.g., R or Excel) to draw a boxplot of the amount of time customers spent in each restaurant.

d) Are there any outliers in this data? If yes, list them.

e) What do the graphical displays and? summary statistics tell you about the amount of time spent in these two restaurants?
