Results from the univariate tests and a post hoc Duncan's test are summarized separately for each dependent variable (Table 6). The difference between the four groups was significant as showed by the scores of the three subscales and the total score. Consistent with our hypothesis, the Duncan post hoc test revealed that groups differed on the subscales of Competence (F(3,661) = 24.55; p < .001), Autonomy (F(3,661) = 23.19; p < .001), Relatedness (F(3,661) = 16.76; p < .001) and BPNS total score (F(3,661) = 9.05; p < .001). As to Competence, Autonomy and BPNS total score, adolescents with high attachment to parents and peers and adolescents with high parent but low peer attachment had higher scores than the two other groups; adolescents who reported a high attachment to parents had higher scores on relatedness than those with a low attachment to parents
