Initial post:
Post a brief description of the child or adolescent stress or adjustment issue you selected.
I chose remarriage as an example of an adjustment problem for children. Divorce is traumatic for children, especially if they feel they must choose between their parents, and it can be much more upsetting for them to witness their parent's approaching remarriage during this difficult time. It's possible that children don't have the same life experiences that adults do. Nonetheless, how they interpret events and experiences in their lives provides insight into their level of stress and how well they have adjusted to their circumstances (Rew et al., 2012). As a result of their parents' impending remarriage, they will have to get to know a new individual, which they are not yet prepared to do. This implies they will have to watch while their mom or dad starts a new life with someone who isn't the same as they're used to. The child will have to adjust to a new adult, and if there are other children involved, they may have to adjust to the presence of siblings they didn't ask for.
Explain one way culture, gender, or social factors might influence the manifestation of the stress or adjustment issue and how.
A child may have difficulty adjusting to their parents' remarriage depending on cultural, gender, or social reasons. Most children, based on their gender, are typically close to the parent of the opposite gender, which is why I believe gender influences the adjustment issues associated with remarriage. Boys, for instance, are generally not interested in seeing their mothers with men other than their fathers, and girls are not interested in seeing their fathers with other women. I believe that social and cultural variables play a role in adjustment issues since children often notice that their friends and family are living with both of their biological parents rather than with someone their parents may have remarried. The negative image of stepmothers and stepfathers in fairy tales contributes to children's difficulties adjusting to second marriages. The indicators of behavioral, emotional, and social issues in children may have been apparent to them (Ganong & Coleman, 1984).
Explain which factor or manifestation of the adjustment issue may be the most difficult for you to address and why. Be specific and use examples.
I believe it may be difficult for me to address the cultural and social factors, as childrenare exposed daily to the lifestyles of other children and to shows and movieson television showing children living with their biological families.
