The five primary sources of contemporary law are (1) constitutional; (2) statutory; (3) common law; (4) court orders; and (5) administrative law.

1. For constitutional law, what are the three basic purposes of the U.S. Constitution?
2. For statutory law, outline the legislative process by which statutes become law.
3. For common law, what is it? How is it made? What legal doctrine is the foundation of this source of law?
4. For court orders, explain what they are and give an example.
5. For administrative law, what is the role of an administrative agency and what do they have the power to create? Give an example of a federal agency and what it does (this part you will need to do a quick internet search for - cite your source)?
