Rich Waters is a 38-year-old Caucasian single man originally from New Bern, NC, but now living in Los Vegas, NV. He is currently unemployed and seeking employment through a temp agency. He left his business consultant job in New Bern last month after Carol, his female boss, went missing under questionable circumstances. At the time, Rich and Calvin, a male coworker, were competing for a promotion. Rich was smitten by Carol, who had no physical attraction to him, opting to maintain a professional relationship. When Carol made it known that she was considering Rich for the promotion, Rich assumed that meant that Carol had fallen for him; that is, until he overheard her making positive comments about Calvin. Carol went missing shortly after that.

Now living in Vegas, Rich spends his days at the temp agency bouncing from job to job while spending his nights at casinos, hopping from hotel to hotel with prostitutes, and using drugs to manage the betrayal he feels from Carol. Rich often talks to prostitutes as one would a close friend or counselor about a woman back home who left him for another man. Sometimes, when Rich tells the story, Carol is idealized, and her betrayal is all his fault; other times, Rich describes Carol as an ungrateful woman who never showed him respect and crushed his heart.

Rich recently found a temp job that suited him well as a graphic designer. An attractive woman named Kelsey will decide whether he will be hired. The decision comes down to Rich and two other male temp workers. Rich tells his prostitute/friend/counselor that this is his last chance at love; if this does not work, he will end it all.
