1) My name is Kamalee Jackson and I am from Durham, NC. I am currently in my 10th year as a police officer and high school basketball coach. I am what should be my final three semesters of my getting my bachelors in sports management.

I have heard of financial documents, as I own income taxes every year. When I think of finance, I think of savings, paying bills on-time, financial plan to lower debt. The terms and concepts that come to mind when thinking about finance are interest, leases/rents/mortgages, assets, payroll, payables (expenditures), receivables (income), money market accounts, balance sheets, audits and bank and account reconciliations to name a few.

I am most interested in what more I can learn about finance through this course and how it can help me in my future. My hope is that this class will help me to become more confident in any future financial decisions or endeavors I might find myself in.

2) My name is Cameron and I am an accounting major. I have worked in sales now for the past two years. I will be completing my associate's degree this spring and will start with my bachelor's degree soon after. My wife and I live in Utah with our young dog, and we're hoping to purchase our first home in 2023.

We use financial documents, such as bank statements, budgets and tax returns regularly to make family financial decisions. Every month we compile our expenses for the prior month and make any needed adjustments to our budget. I've recently figured out how to convert bank transactions to excel-compatible information for easier analysis, so that's what we do now.

When I think about finance, I think of transactions, budgets, plans, investments, debt and cash flow. I think about planning ahead to make larger purchases, such as a home or family trip. I think about sales and reporting as well.

I hope to learn more about programs such as Excel. I hope to learn how to do more and better analyses. To be honest though, I'm not really sure what to expect from the this course.
