rewrite post If I were in charge of a mid-sized city police department my priority for the agency would be training for law enforcement officers. Training for officers can help with possible misunderstanding that officers may face with any magnitude of situations ranging from statues, to call handling for tense situations. Training officers can also help with public relations as well. I think that my choice to receive less funding would be a combination of two things one being if my department paid for the employee's full benefits, I would pull that back to pay 75% of the employee's benefits. I would also look to see if there were any areas where certain parts of the benefits package weren't being use such as telehealth, if it wasn't being used by more the 25% of the employees, I would drop in out of the benefits package completely. My next reduction would be to hire an extra officer or two to cut back on overtime pay. It can be much cheaper to hire an officer at regular pay than to pay multiple officers time and a half in overtime pay
