Rights Breach Issues in Canada News Article/Case Report Analysis Assignment Search the internet for recent news articles or case reports from reliable sites that concern issues relating to people are claiming their rights have been breached in some manner. The breach of rights they are claiming may involve issues related to the Charter or other provincial or federal human rights legislation. Select an article or case report of reasonable length (suggested minimum of 500 words) with detailed information relating to a specific case or event and how it involves or relates to a Charter or human rights legislation breach. (You may consult other supporting articles or resources to help you research further on the case if not enough information is provided.) After reading and analyzing your article, write a four paragraph summary and synopsis of the article that incorporates the following: - A paragraph that clearly describes the main event that occurred that brought about the issue at hand. This should include such factors as a clear explanation of the circumstances, where and when the events have taken place, and the news or information source you found your article or case report in. - A paragraph that clearly describes what specific section(s) or provisions of the Charter or human rights legislation are claimed to have been breached. If the article does not identify the section(s) or legislation by number, you will need to examine the Charter (either in your textbook or online) or human rights legislation (online) to determine what section(s)/provisions may have been breached. - A paragraph that discusses whether you believe there has been a breach or violation. If you believe there was a breach, explain whether or not you believe the breach was reasonable based on the proportionality (Oakes) test or reasonable grounds. If you do not believe there was a breach, explain why. - A final paragraph in which you give your opinion as to what you believe the outcome of this Charter/human rights challenge should be (i.e. should it be rejected, or should a remedy be provided? If a remedy, what sort of remedy might be appropriate?) - Provide the hyperlink to the article as well as any additional sites you may have consulted in researching it
