Robert, an antique car dealer, had invited Mae out for dinner for their first date. To impress her, Robert booked a table at an award-winning and very expensive French restaurant - Gateaux. They were getting along well, the food was great, they shared a particularly good vintage of South African wine and after the main course. Robert ordered a cake and coffee for himself, and Mae chose special fondant chocolate ice cream for herself. As Mae was eating her ice cream, she coughed and vomited a decomposed insect. The sight of the decomposed insect caused her to suffer nervous shock and she collapsed instantly. The restaurant bill cost 350, which Robert quickly paid in order to avoid any further embarrassment. As Mae continued to feel unwell, Robert decided to take her home. Mae suffered gastroenteritis for several days and reeling from the health scare they suffered at the restaurant, unsure of what to do next, Robert has approached you for help over what remedies are available to them against the restaurant. Required: Using Donoghue v Stevenson 1932, advise Robert and Mae what remedies are available to them against the restaurant owners.
