Robert Quinn separates management approaches into four quadrants based on how much they prefer controlling situations rather than being flexible and whether they are more focused on internal operations or the external environment. These caricatures establish a few models of management, but as we have seen with other classifications, not all of these archetypes fit every situation as well as all others. With that in mind, it is your task to identify examples of each of these four personifications of management and to determine which situational contexts might be best for each approach.

Research to find four examples to fit Quinn's model, one for each quadrant. Your example might be a business scholar, a noted manager (living or dead), or an exemplary company. You might find examples within a scholarly article about management, a business textbook, a TEDtalk (cited properly in one of these two ways) or other professional presentation, a news article, or a credible trade source (such as a trade organization's website or magazine).
