PROJECT STEPS

Rural Health Associates is a healthcare company that manages rural health clinics in underserved areas of the country. Rural Health Associates provides low-cost health care based on income level. You work in the Patient Services Department as an information specialist. After reviewing the Staff by Clinic Report, clinic managers have asked you to make some changes. Open the Staff by Clinic Report in Design View. Add the ClinicName field to the ClinicID Header so that the left edge of the control is at the 3.5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Confirm that the report matches Figure 1, and then save the report without closing it.

With the Staff by Clinic Report still open in Design View, select the controls in the Detail section (StaffID, FirstName, LastName, Position) simultaneously. Then, group the controls and resize by dragging their right edge to the 5" mark on the horizontal ruler. Finally, bold the controls. Confirm that the report matches Figure 1, and then save and close the report.

Open the Basic Income Report in Design View, and then change the Alternate Back Color property for the Detail section to No Color. Save and close the report.

The Families by State Report is too wide, and there is too much white space between records. Open the Families by State Report in Design View. Resize the width of the report so that the right border of the report is at the 7" mark on the horizontal ruler. Then, move the Income label and control so that it appears under the LastName control. The bottom-left edge of the control should be at the 1" mark on the vertical ruler and the 2" mark on the horizontal ruler. Select the Street, City, and PostalCode controls and align them to the left. Confirm that the report matches Figure 2, and then save and close the report.

Some addresses in the Family Address List are being truncated. Open the Family Address List in Design View. Select all the labels in the Page Header section and bold the labels. Then, select the Street control in the Detail section and change the Can Grow property to Yes. Finally, resize the Detail section so that the lower boundary of the section is at the 0.5" mark on the vertical ruler for the Detail section. Confirm that the report matches Figure 3, and then save and close the report.

Clinic managers need a report that shows average incomes for their patients. Open the Average Income by State Report in Design View. Add a footer section to the Group on State section, then add a text box control in the State Footer section. The left edge of the control is at the 4" mark on the horizontal ruler. Convert the text box control into a calculated control that averages the Income field. (Hint: Your control should contain the formula =Avg([Income]).) Format the control so that it displays as currency with zero decimal places. Change the label using Average Income as the label name. (Hint: If necessary, change the width of the label so that the full text is visible.) Confirm that the report matches Figure 4, and then save and close the report.

One of the clinic managers has asked you to create a grouped and sorted report that they can later modify according to their specific needs. Open the Patients by Family Report in Design View. Group the report by the FamilyID field, and the sort the report by the PatientID field in ascending order. Do not add any additional grouping or sorting options. Save and close the report. (Hint: This report does not include any fields.)

Save and close any open objects in your database. Compact and repair your database, close it, and then exit Access. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
