Sandy: I recently hired someone without the level of experience required for the position. I know that I'm taking a risk but I hired him for demonstrating other qualities that are absolutely needed for the job: persistence (it was his third time applying for the role throughout the organization in the last 4 years), ability to take feedback and apply it (he was given feedback each time before and he brought proof of how he'd applied it), and work ethic ( great track record in his previous role and multiple recommendations). My boss wasn't exactly happy about the hire but once he met him, he saw what I saw in him Christine: I have personally experienced this. My job search since transitioning out of education has been exhausting. Not having any professional experience in HR has made it difficult for me to transition career fields. While I have an extensive resume, including volunteering for several organizations, it was very difficult to even get an interview. I have worked with a number of organizations, at Rutgers and hiring programs, to rewrite my resume. And while I have a number of transferable skills it was hard to find a job. Katherin: Indeed
