Sarah is a 35-year-old mother of two children, who are 8 and 12. Sarah recently started working part-time study at a local College and has been there for three weeks and really loves studying and the friends she is making. Previous to this Sarah has attempted to study and gain other employment but has always found it too hard to maintain as it starts impacting her relationship with her partner John. Sarah would really like to keep studying but can see its already starting to cause issues in her relationship with John who gets upset when she is away from him and the kids. Sarah is feeling very stressed and finding it impacting her ability to learn. Sarah and John have been together for 14 years and share the two children together however she is starting to now resent John for his behavior as it feels like she can't do anything for herself. When they argue about it, John gets very angry and follows Sarah around the house when she tries to move away from him, and she feels intimidated. John seems to always come between her learning anything new and bettering herself and she can't understand why he is doing this. Unfortunately, there has already been a few fights between them in just the last three weeks. Sarah feels trapped and worried about how angry John is getting as the fights have seemed to escalate and she can see the kids are starting to be impacted. Sarah decided to come and talk to someone about it and hopes to find a solution to keep John happy so she can keep her job and avoid any more fights. |
