Scenario 1:Johnny and Sam always have a conflict with one another. They only ever have conflict with each other, no other students. The boys have conflict in all settings (cafeteria, classroom, gym, etc.) The boys got in a verbal confrontation in the cafeteria that required the principal to intervene. The principal was able to resolve the conflict with a private discussion about their behavior. Johnny and Sam had a confrontation again the next day that required parents to be called.

Scenario 2:

Gavin gets into conflicting situations with many students. Often, when he hears students laughing, he assumes that they are laughing at him. Today in the cafeteria, he had a verbal outburst at a group of students that required the attention of the principal. With the principal's private discussion about Gavin's behavior, the situation escalated, and Gavin told the principal "I know the students were talking about me and laughing at me. I'm going to get them back! Why aren't you doing anything about them laughing at me?"
