Scenario 1: Penguin Tagging To test if flipper tags influence penguins, researchers tagged penguins with either a metal flipper tag or a small metal web tag. They predict that, if flipper bands were costly and increased drag, flipper-banded penguins would make longer foraging trips than those with web tags. The researcher caught penguins and randomly selected them to either have the web or flipper tag attached. They all received a RFID that was implanted under the skin that would record the length of each foraging dive (in hours) for each penguin; dive time was averaged into the mean foraging dive time for each penguin. *Based on Boersma
