Assignment 1 - IMA 105 - Apr 2022
Facts
Adam Hope was born on 21 January 1964 in Leshi of Burma, where he used to be a member of an opposition party, a Muslim minority group, banned by the present government. Increasingly, opposition groups in Leshi were finding it difficult to speak out without suffering reprisals. On three occasions in the last month, Adam was arrested and interrogated by the local police in connection with his opposition activities.
During the interrogations, Adam was severely beaten and, when he was arrested for the third time, threatened with being killed. He therefore decided to leave Leshi and did so immediately after his last release from detention.
Using forged identity (under the name of John Smith bearing the same birthdate and citizen of Thailand), he made his way by plane to Canada. This was on 05 January 2019. Upon arrival at the airport, Adam made a refugee claim but CBSA found him to be criminally inadmissible. Subsequently, a removal order was issued against him. He was given an application for PRRA by one of the CBSA Officers. His only passport was confiscated by CBSA.
Adam is now seeking your advice and assistance to complete the PRRA form.
He has no family members in Canada. He is married to his spouse, Mary Smith, but they lost contact with each other soon after his arrest. He does not know her date of birth as she did not have a birth certificate, but may on 21 January 1965. They both have a child named Jacky Smith and she was born in 2016 sometime in February. The child is with the mother.
Adam has a brother named as Kevin and a sister, Jacky. His mother is staying with the siblings. Her name is Mdm. Dole. He does not recall their date of births but he thinks is somewhere on twentieth of April 1972 and twenty third of April '76 respectively. His mum is around 90 years old and was born in 1929 May the first.
He was a nuclear scientist in his home country. He has only travelled outside his home country to Thailand once or twice in his life. He escaped via this country before arriving at Vancouver.
