Scenario: Dr. Ledecky studies the impact of groups on an individual's behavior. She is currently studying frequency of asking questions. She recruited 30 college students who had never taken a social psychology class to participate in her study. Each name was put into a random number generator and assigned a number 1 through 3. Students assigned number 1 were by themselves. Students assigned number 2 were in a room with one other person. Students assigned number 3 were in a room with 3 other people. In all conditions, participants spent 10 minutes listening to a confusing lecture followed by answering questions on a worksheet with instructions including, "Feel free to ask clarifying questions." The worksheet was the same for every participant. Research assistants kept track of the number of times students asked a question.
Question:Based on the results of her study, Dr. Ledecky hopes to make a causal statement. Think of the 3 criteria for causation we discussed. For each of these criteria, state whether this study meets each of the criteria (yes/no) and explain why it meets or does not meet that criteria. (2 points for each of the 3 criteria + explanations)
