Scenario(fictional):

5StarResearch is a relatively new company that uses highly skilled and qualified industry analysts to provide research and analysis using analytics for over 20 industries.

For the first 3 years, they have mostly addressed client needs from healthcare, educational institutions, and a few government contracts.

There are currently five teams of six analysts. The analysts from Teams 1-3 work on the healthcare and government contracts and complain that their hours exceed 55 hours per week and sometimes 60. Some overworked analysts have been coming late to work or calling in sick. The company as a whole provides salaries of $90,000 per analyst. Some analysts in Teams 1-3 are despondent and say they should be allowed to work from home so they can at least be around their families since they work so many hours.

The CEO and president, Terry Ealy, is an ESTJ on the MBTI personality typology. He does not see a reason for anyone arriving late to the office or needing to work from home.

The analysts in Teams 4 and 5 mostly work for educational institutions, take an hour for lunch and leave at 5 p.m. daily. They do not see the problem, although lately, in company meetings, they have been raising questions about when they will get some different types of projects. The CEO has noticed that Teams 4 and 5 sometimes return late from lunch. Teams 1-3 have accrued a lot of sick days. He worries that he is not addressing some problems, which could seriously affect his business if they worsen. However, he does not have an HR Director and has been doing the HR duties using HRM software.

Your instructor will assign you to work in groups/teams. Each problem-solving team will interact to address the problems in the company scenario in the team area below Unit 10.

In your assigned team:

• Describe and number the company problems and assign each team member what they should address.
• Describe the goals and objectives of the team in addressing the problems.
• Describe the tasks necessary for the individual analysts and the five teams to remedy the situation.
• Propose a solution to the company teams' problems by applying at least two team process steps from the learning activity.
• Provide the next steps for the CEO/president to remedy the situation.
• Demonstrate that the team followed the team process steps by explaining the steps from the learning activity that the team would take after the end of the first provided meeting.
