Scenario: Helen

Helen Flannery is an educator with Country Plains Family Day Care. She has been called by Janelle at the Family Day Care Co-ordination Unit to see if she is available to do relief care for a family while their usual educator is unavailable. Janelle advises Helen that the family has two children needing care - Trevor who is three years old and will require care from 8:00am - 4:00pm and Oliver who is seven years old and will require care from 8:00am till he catches the school bus at 8:45am and then after school from 3:30pm - 4:00pm. Helen wants to check her diary where she keeps the details of each child's attendance before committing to the care, as she is diligent in keeping to the child: educator ratios.
