Scenario: Helping Hand You have just been hired as the new Assistant to the Team Leader of Helping Hand, a community service organisation located in the greater Brisbane area. Your organisation caters to the needs of homeless people, coordinating services such as crisis accommodation/shelters, food, health centres, and mental health services. One of the key performance requirements of your job is to increase the network and collaborative partnerships for your organisation. Sue Fletcher, your Team Leader has required you to submit an outline of a collaboration strategy that will help meet the needs of your clients, your team and your organisation as a whole. During a team meeting, Sue mentioned that recently, there has been an increase in the number of homeless mothers and their children due to a rise in domestic violence cases in the area. Because it is best that the children remain with their mother, their temporary crisis accommodation needs can be more complex, and your organisation needs to find suitable shelters for these group of homeless families. Since the organisation has not had much opportunity to assist victims of domestic violence in the past, you and other team members asked several questions on what the priority needs and goals of these homeless families are and what can be provided to cater to their needs. Sue proposed that the Team may need training on 'domestic violence' to ensure the Team can better understand and respond to the needs of the children and their mothers. Lastly, Sue talked about the need for the organisation to seek funding or grants from government bodies, community organisations or private entities to generate additional resources to provide for the needs of the disadvantaged families who are victims of domestic violence.
