Scenario

In this scenario, you are assigned as the new project manager with one direct report for the rollout of a system that will allow parents to view their child's academic and biographical information online and from any mobile device. This project is 6 weeks from its launch date, and you have inherited the following documents from the previous project manager:

• A communications plan outlining 15 school- and central-facing documents that are intended for completion by the launch date,
• A business requirements document that was created at the beginning of the project one year ago,
• A partial list of stakeholders who have been engaged on this project throughout its history, and
• A list of open questions and feedback raised by the Chancellor's team regarding the new system.

Task

1. List the key questions and/or additional pieces of information you would need to finish developing a plan for the launch of the system. Briefly explain how you would use each piece of information in your planning.
2. Given what you know about the scenario and your prior experience managing complex projects, describe any challenges you would anticipate in preparing for the launch of the new system. What steps would you take to proactively address these challenges?
3. How would you approach delegating tasks to your direct report in this scenario?
