Scenario:

Jacob Chaffey runs a prestigious hair salon in Toronto's fashion district. Despite a significant change in the neighborhood in recent years, Chaffey's customers are loyal and willing to pay the higher prices required to respond to escalating rents. New residents in the neighborhood also seemed to be comfortable with the salon's premium prices. To maintain commensurate service levels, Chaffey was considering placing an order for six new, high-end hair steamers. The supplier offered the steamers at $1,500 each and Chaffey made a counteroffer of $1,200 each. When the supplier rejected his counteroffer, Chaffey decided that because he was in desperate need of the steamers, he would pay $1,500 each.
