Scenario

Jonathan is a sales manager and he has to supervise 20 people. Yesterday, he was informed that Suzy (one of his salespersons) had a fight with a client. When he was asked by his boss to make a decision about this case, he replied: "I need some time; please let me find out what actually happened first. I promise I will let you know about my decision, once I find out the cause of the problem".

Task

a. What was the problem in this scenario?

b. Try to think of at least 5 possible reasons that could have caused this problem to happen and briefly explain each cause.

The lecturer asked us to focus on two aspects of the question, the first being that Jonathan has 20 staff (more than he can handle), and the second being that this topic is about managerial roles not about sales management. Please focus on Jonathan's actions, rather than on Suzy's actions.
