The Company Paradise Punches is a company that produces fruit smoothies made with locally grown fruits. The company enjoys country-wide brand recognition, and its guava, soursop and barbadine fruit punches are among its most popular products. Paradise Punches is a wholesaler that sells its products to supermarkets, mini-marts, convenience stores, village 'parlours' and other retailers across the country. The Project The Company has embarked on a business process re-engineering (BPR) project that is focused on re-engineering its Order Fulfilment process. (Order Fulfilment involves receiving, processing, packaging and shipping customer orders for the Company's products.) Currently, this process is highly manual. This was not a problem when the company was smaller. Now, however, it has become increasingly challenging for the company to effectively and efficiently service its huge customer base. Your Role Paradise Punches has hired you - an experienced project manager - to manage and lead the Order Fulfillment BPR project. This project will be complex and challenging in many ways. It will involve assessing the short-comings of the current process; re-designing the process to improve efficacy; incorporating technology to better enable and support the process through automation; and re-tooling/ re-training staff to carry out operations in the re-designed process. In spite of the anticipated challenges, you are confident in your ability to assist the Company, based on your extensive experience and proven track record in leading and managing projects that require organisations to undertake significant change.
