Scenario
You are a graduate from Centennial College. Your Graduation from Global and International Business Management is a proof that you worked hard, and you are confident that a great future is waiting for you. You received an e-mail from an old Professor who is consulting who is assisting the government of Canada which, as of 2022 has pledged have pledged the following:
$19.5 M in Aid
The funding announced includes:
- $4.5 million in humanitarian assistance to protect vulnerable Haitians and provide food assistance - $1 million to improve integrated health services for women, adolescent girls and children in earthquake-affected areas - $4 million to support post-disaster rehabilitation efforts in earthquake-affected areas - $10 million to strengthen the security sector
Your Professor's organization, General Dynamics, in London ON has the urgent need to send a commercial delivery of $10M in security goods (i.e. armoured vehicles, weapons, security technologies, etc.) to Haiti in keeping with the above promise. You are to source the goods from an existing Canadian Manufacturer and justify your decision.
You are to choose a route and deliver the goods to the Chief of Security Services in Port au Prince, Haiti at the most appropriate EXACT location (i.e. the specific delivery address in Haiti). Please justify your location decision based on the best possible routing and the management of risk. Also, please research the most appropriate sources/types of Canadian goods that would make the greatest impact in maintaining security against the gangs and justify that decision.
In order to convince your former Professor and his managers that you are a suitable freight Forwarding Company and that you have a team that is capable of handling the job, he asks you for a Sales Presentation and Team Report to be Submitted to his Management Team. You have a short period to get everything done so you need to get started now.
With the knowledge acquired at Centennial, your understanding of Canadian and International Logistics, the desire to succeed in the business field, and a network of Centennial colleagues (team size fixed maximum 6 students! You accept the challenge. Success here holds the key your career and you are in control. To get you started, your former Freight Forwarding Professor offered to help you and prepared the following spreadsheet:
