Scenario: You are a therapist and you have been working with an individual female clients for approximately 12 months. During the duration of treatment, the client reports minimal progress and has become resistant and at times combative in session. When you offer different perspectives to her in session, she often rejects them and tells you "that isn't going to work for me." The client reports therapy "isn't working", that it "isn't helpful" and that "nothing has changed" for her, but also refuses to space out appointments so is still attending weekly. The client rarely follows through on homework outside of session, and it has become clear to you that she is not invested in therapy and is not motivated for change. Keeping in mind the AAMFT Code of Ethics standards 1.8-1.11, discuss and describe what your next steps would be with respect to this client. Be sure to expand upon your ethical decision making and explain your decision. Your submission must be at least 400 words and can be written in first-person language. You may type your submission directly into Canvas or upload your submission. Please be sure to spell-check your words, as well as address all parts of the prompt completely in order to receive full credit.
