For this discussion answer this question: What do you think are the three most important interview questions to ask of each candidate for the open management position?

I must appoint a manager for one of the divisions I am responsible for inside the organization. The appropriate questions must be asked to evaluate someone's abilities and understand what they bring to the table. I will have all the information I need from the responses to be able to choose wisely when hiring a manager for the company. I believe the three key questions to ask during a management interview are "What do you know about our company, what interests you the most and why do you want to work here?" "How would your direct reports describe your management style?" and "Why should we hire you?"

In an interview, it is crucial to start with the following question: "What do you know about our company, what interests you the most and why do you want to work here?" (Bell). You will be able to tell who is serious about the position if this is asked during an interview. You will be able to see who invested the time and effort in learning about the business and what it has to offer. Also, you will learn what level they are at and which aspects of the job requirements most appeal to them (Bell). The best response to this question is by stating that they are aware of the company and think it will thrive. Also, that they see potential growth and want to be part of it.

Another question that is an important question to ask is "How would your direct reports describe your management style?" (indeed). You can find out a person's management style by asking them this question. You can determine if someone is qualified to lead your team in the organization once you learn what style they have. They may have the skillsets of a good manager or they may have the qualities for a good follower. This question may also reveal if they have a good relationship with their coworkers (indeed). The ideal answer to this is that they prefer to manage in accordance with business policies. They look out for the business as well as the workers they manage.

The last question that can be asked in an interview setting is "Why should we hire you?" (Bell). When this question is asked, the individual will give their background and experience. The applicant will have the opportunity to demonstrate what distinguishes them from the others in this question (Bell). This will enable you to identify the candidate who is most suitable for the manager position. They are passionate and eager to help the business in achieving its goal.
