Scenario: You work for a small subcontract firm that carries out electrical and mechanical maintenance for various companies. You have been asked by a client who is undertaking preventative maintenance measures, to come to his company and take measurements of components that break down regularly. They also need you to replace and make diagrams of circuit boards in old machinery as these cannot be sourced from suppliers. You will need to supply these drawings to the client. They will need orthographic drawings, assembly drawings, circuit diagrams and parts lists. Task 1. Your manager has asked you to produce a circuit diagram for a light sensitive musical alarm system for a customer that complies with drawing standards, with at least five different components which use standard symbols. Task 2. Your manager has also asked you to help form a CAD department as they are finding drawing manually is time consuming and expensive. They will need descriptions and explanations of components for their CAD computers. Task 3. Now that you have a new CAD department you will have to create drawing templates for your company using their logo. Your first job is to make 3D models, orthographic drawings and an assembly drawing from the three drawings given below. You have also been asked to evaluate the functionality of a CAD software package. Task 4. Explain in how a given engineering drawing would be used and the reasons it is suitable for its intended audience.
