School safety issues continue to intensify in today's schools. In addition to ensuring that the building and surrounding areas are safe for everyone on the school campus, the principal must understand his or her authority in disciplining students involved in on- and off-campus activities such as gangs, cyberbullying, disruptive students, sexting, violence, etc.

interim principal at Shoreline Elementary which is a small school with approximately 700 students. It is a school that services students grade K-5. This is one of 19 schools in the district and has a desired reputation. There was a bomb that was located outside of a classroom at the school I had my internship at, Rick King, and the school was immediately evacuated and families were notified. An object was found on the sidewalk as students were entering the school at Shoreline Elementary that made me concerned it could be a bomb.
