Question 1 In the draft accounts for the year ended 31 October 2022 of Holland P Prat, garage proprietor, their balance at bank according to the Cash Book showed $89,400.68 in hand, while the Bank Statement as of that date showed an overdraft of $97,299.89. Subsequently to that, there were discrepancies discovered which are highlighted below: 1) Cheque number 176276 dated 3 September 2022 for $31,000.84 prepared in favour of G. Lowe Ltd has been correctly recorded on the bank statement but was included in the cash book as $30,100.84. 2) Bank commission charged of $16,900.56 and bank interest received of $10,900.10 have been entered in the bank statement on 23 October 2022, but not included in the cash book 3) The recently received bank statement showed that a cheque of $29,000.31 received from T. Andrews and credited on the bank statements on 9 October 2022 has now been dishonoured and debited in the bank statement on 26 October 2022. The only entry in the cash book for this cheque records it as receipt on 8 October 2022 4) Cheque number 177145 for $15,000.10 has been recorded twice as a credit in the cash book. 5) Amounts received in the last few days of October 2022 totalling $189,500.60 and recorded in the cash book has not been included in the bank statements until 2 November 2021. 6) Cheques paid according to the cash book during October 2022 and totalling $39,500.80 were not presented for payment to bank until November 2022. 7) Traders' credits totalling $21,000.10 have been credited in the bank statement on 26 October 2022, but not yet recorded in the cash book. 8) A standing order payment of $15,000.00 on 17 October 2022 to Countryside Publications has been recorded in the bank statement but is not mentioned in the cash book. Required: a) Prepare the revised cash book (bank A/C only) as at 31 October 2022 (10 MARKS) b) Prepare a bank reconciliation statement as at 31 October 2022 for Holland P. Prat, starting with revised cash book ending balance
