They used numbers to expressing the variable, which was the napping part. They summarized the data by using graphs that where produced to display the variables' reality proper position. They collected different data from the hospital to ensure that the data was accurate and precise. The nurses used a form to fill out every time they took a nap.

There are many disadvantages and advantages to this type of experiments, such as irregular data, inconsistency, and lack of participation. The benefits are diversity in a controlled environment and real-life participants. The disadvantage is that the experiment decisions do not include all the nurses, which doesn't prove that day shift workers are tired than night shift workers. This experiment does not have a control variable.
