Q2. In Intel microprocessors 80286 and above, there are two addressing modes: real and protected modes. The major difference between these modes is the way segment registers are used to find the final (effective) memory address. A scenario for 80286 protected mode of memory addressing is given in the Fig 1. Assume microprocessor executes an instruction MOV [BX], AL. It copies the one byte data from AL register to the data segment of the memory addressed by the offset address 0005H stored in BX register. Answer the following questions. a) Find the base address (in HEX) of the segment selected? How did you find it? b) Find the size (in decimal) of selected segment? How did you find it? c) Find the effective memory address of the location in HEX. d) Will the operating system allow this memory access request? Justify your answer. e) Calculate the total segments that can be chosen (used) in protected mode. Q. No. 4: (5+10 marks) a. Explain the purpose of the 8288 bus controller. b. Design and illustrate the fully-buffered and de-multiplexed 8086 Microprocessor. The pin layout of the 8086 microprocessor is given in Figure 1. To reduce the cross connections of lines, you may consider pin layout of 8086 microprocessor with relevant pins on one side
