Select three people to whom you will read off a list of words. Separately ask each person. Use the list provided in the last sentence of these instructions. Without the ability to ask questions, including a request to have you repeat any of the items, note which of the words each person could recall. Keep a record for yourself of which words each person remembered and calculate a percentage for each word. For example, the first word was pizza, and if two out of three recalled the word, the percentage for that word would be 67%.
Which words had the best recall percentages? Report your results, including which words were best recalled and which words were the least recalled.
Then, in your post, state your observations and analyze your results. For example, you can include responses to the following questions "Why do you think those words were more likely to be remembered? Were any words "recalled" that were not on the list? What made some words more memorable?"
Next, compare your results and speculations with at least two other students.
Here is the list (and yes, one word is repeated three times on purpose): pizza, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, pepperoni, sauce, crust, ham, mushrooms, onions, pineapple, chicken, pepperoni, bacon, anchovies (Concept adapted from a post by glen Mountford Tucker).
