Select two consecutive days (48 hours) where you will unplug from technology and not use the following electronic means for leisure: cell phones, television, internet, ipods, mp3 players, game systems, computers of any type (desktop, laptops, smartphones and tablets).  Most of you may at times need your phones and computers for educational, work, and family emergencies. During the prescribed time period, you should use the above devices for these purposes only. However, this assignment asks you to refrain from using your devices for all leisure purposes, including: calling, texting, or skyping friends; web surfing; personal email, chat, social media, video games, streaming music or video on these devices, etc. [You can still listen to music on the radio, vinyl, or CD, etc.]

After you have completed this task, reflect on your experience and answer the following questions in an essay that demonstrates the ability to apply course content and offers critical observations of your experience.

1. How did you spend your time?

2. Compare and contrast your time use without these technological devices to your time use with them. 

3. How did it feel to not use these technological devices?

4. Did you need to cheat? To what extent do you think you are or are not addicted to technology?

5. How has technology been both a positive and negative influence on your personal leisure?

6. How can you improve your relationship with technology in the context of leisure?

You must present critical observations of your experience, and make connections to course material. Summarizing and describing the experience are necessary, but the bulk of your paper must be a critical analysis that connects the experience to concepts from the course material.  The use of course content and demonstration of your own critical observations is required.
