Pierre sought advice from an agent, Shifty, who ran a business called Le Agency, in Marseille, France. Shifty charged Pierre 5000 to fill in the forms for a visa to come to Australia on a Child (101) visa. When Pierre was interviewed by Department of Immigration officers in Paris, they discovered he had actually been working full time for the past 5 years. As a result, Pierre did not fit the definition of dependent child and the application was rejected. Claudette says that Pierre had told Shifty he had been working. Terry tells Selene that he said to Claudette that Shifty obviously did not know how to give proper immigration advice.
