Senior Manager of Operations - KIPP Forward Performance Task

The KIPP Forward Team has always been the first line of support and communication with Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). The process to get students to apply, be certified, and have orientation for the program is multi-tiered and often involves several different kinds of communication. Please read the following scenario:

Our goal is to have as many students as possible complete the process for summer employment. It is late February and we have just received the latest data of which students have applied and are eligible for SYEP. There are two groups that the teams at KCP and KIPP Forward are most focused on - 11th grade NAF students and 9th graders - as we want 90% of both groups to have completed the process. Please note that there are 907 students currently enrolled at KCP and 212 9th graders and 47 junior NAF students.

We also have an opportunity to connect with a potential funder that will double the earnings of students who are signed up for SYEP. We need to get a proposal to the funder that estimates what their contribution would be for SYEP employed students given the tiers for compensation noted on their website (summerjobs.dc.gov) for Summer 21.

First, examine this data set and craft a report on SYEP enrollment progress to be shared with the Managing Director of KIPP Forward during your next one on one. Please also include a response to the following question - Where would you advise we focus our efforts to move from application to eligibility, with only 30 days left for students to complete the application and eligibility?

Second, be sure to include financial data for the donor proposal. Specifically, please share what the current ask would be and what it could be if we reached our 9th grade and 11th grade NAF goal. Use the pay structures on the SYEP website to help you determine estimated funding.

Please feel free to use other tabs and any color coding necessary in the document to accompany your written report. The task should not take more than 2 hours to explore and plan and perhaps another 30 to 45 mins on how to coherently and comprehensively share the information.
